Sometimes God speaks to us in the most unexpected ways.
I ordered some QR code keychains from an Etsy seller to use as promotional items for Postmarked In The 305. We exchanged several messages, going back and forth with different revisions until we found a design that would be both attractive and easy for a phone to scan. Once we were both happy with it, I placed the order, and he began making them.
On July 11, 2026, I woke up to an email that completely froze me.
It read, "Your keychains are lucky ones. They've survived Russia's ballistic missile attack tonight."
The seller is in Kyiv, Ukraine.
He went on to share how grateful he is to the people of the United States for the support and kindness shown to Ukraine during these incredibly difficult years.
I couldn't help but just sit there for a moment.
While I had spent the night sleeping peacefully in my own bedβsafe, comfortable, and surrounded by quietβhe had spent the night wondering if he and his loved ones would survive. That realization hit me deeply. How many blessings do we overlook simply because they've become our normal?
Then another thought crossed my mind. Perhaps this wasn't just an Etsy purchase. Perhaps this was one of those quiet moments where God gently reminds us that He is always working behind the scenes. Out of the millions of shops and sellers in the world,He connected me with someone halfway across the globe whose story would forever change how I look at these keychains.
Maybe God was reminding me just how incredibly blessed I am. Maybe He was whispering, "Keep going. You're on the right path. My hand is in this."
As we continue building Postmarked In The 305, it's easy to become consumed with writing, designing, and checking off endless to-do lists. But today, God reminded me that this journey has always been about people. It's about encouraging hearts, sharing hope, and creating connections that only He could orchestrate.
Even though living under the threat of war has become their reality after more than four years, there is nothing normal about it. There is nothing normal about falling asleep wondering if you'll wake up to sirens, explosions, or another attack. There is nothing normal about living in constant fear and on high alert every single day. Yet for so many families in Ukraine, that has become everyday life.
Reading his email reminded me that while I was wrapped in peace and comfort, someone else was simply hoping to survive the night. It humbled me in a way I didn't expect. It reminded me that every peaceful night's sleep, every embrace with my family, every ordinary morning, and every opportunity to pursue this dream are blessings upon blessings.
Those QR code keychains now mean so much more than a marketing tool. They have become a reminder that God can use the smallest moments to reveal the biggest truths. He can connect complete strangers across the world to remind us to be grateful, to pray for one another, and to trust that His hand is at work even when we cannot see it.
I'll be praying for the people of Ukraineβfor their safety, their peace, and for the day they can finally experience life without fear. And I'll be thanking God for the gentle reminder that every ordinary day is an extraordinary gift, and that His blessings surround us far more often than we realize.
Blessings upon blessings.
